The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
We have known from the beginning that we have these special magical wraps that are filled with love for our planet. We have poured love into them. However, creating awareness around the solution has been one of our biggest challenges. Many market days talking and learning about our customers, learning how to reach and communicate with love to the world, and understanding our customers’ pain points have been a real learning curve. What we know is that we want to become a household name. Fabric gift wrapping is at the tipping point. Much like the keep cup, people are wanting simple solutions to environmental issues, and this is one of them, so our challenge is to make it available to all, at an affordable price whilst keeping integrity in each part of the supply chain.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that we are so very different in our skill sets and they complement each other beautifully. We love working together and wouldn’t want to do this without each other. We are both aligned on our values and support each other through all areas of our life and work.
As for cons: needing patience! Running a business, there is a lot to do, so many amazing ideas, and only finite time. We have learnt to focus in on what is really important and be very smart with our time.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
In 10 years, we want to be a household name, with the majority of homes choosing fabric gift wrapping. We are branching out into distribution and physical retail stores to make the product accessible to all.
We also want to maximise our impact. CleanHub, an organisation with a mission to divert 50% of waste from the oceans by 2030, receives funding from us with each purchase. Going forward, we have planned some awareness campaigns, including providing local community fabric gift wrapping workshops and educational resources for schools. We have many more ideas we’d love to realise too.
