Capturing the Beauty of Pregnancy, Newborns, Babies, and Families: Chelsea Haworth Photography

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Just like any other person, I make time for myself and my family. Our business gives us the freedom to make that time, and although we work harder because we work for ourselves, we can choose when and where to work. Our children get to see us working and creating which is priceless for them because they are being modelled drive, ambition and work ethic from a young age.

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Photography can be a tough industry, and you want to be unique and find your style. Finding my style in the beginning was frustrating but also very rewarding because I now have my own unique style that is easily recognizable. No matter how many workshops or education classes I take, I always make the knowledge I’ve learnt my own. I’ve learnt to trust myself and what I do, and to be kind to myself. There is a delicate balance between pushing yourself to always learn and to appreciate what you have learned already and how far you’ve come.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Freedom, and everything that freedom comes with, you get a lot of freedom when you run your own business. The cons would be everything that you have to do for yourself, because no one else is going to do it! You have to figure out early on what’s required and make sure you do it properly.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We have a lot of ambitions and goals for the future. Some geared towards our wonderful clients and other parents and others more personal that are geared towards children! We are excited for our future and what it brings, but we also know that the future only brings what we create.
