Leaving the house with kids in tow can feel chaotic: planning for every eventuality and trying to squeeze everything in that you might need for your little ones can be stressful. Gone are the days that you can just grab your favourite handbag and head out the door at short notice! At Bambino Bagz, they have come up with a beautiful range of lovingly designed bags to make you feel organised, empowered and super stylish. There are handy pockets and spaces for everything you need, allowing you to prepare for anything that mum life throws at you. Bambino Bagz founder Ruth Quinn talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind her business and her desire to help parents feel and look their best.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I was very much ready to go back to some kind of work after my second born Josh turned one. I needed to feel like me again outside of motherhood. I always loved bags and accessories before I had my boys and found that I had to choose between a beautiful bag that made me feel good or a functional nappy bag with enough room. So I wanted to create a range that allowed parents to feel great and also stay organised while heading out to make memories with their little ones.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
Just me at home storing our stock in the back room! It was a huge challenge to juggle starting a business with motherhood but it’s something I would never change, because I love that my boys get to see me fulfil my dreams and show determination.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
Realising that the only limit on how much I can grow the business is the limit I put in place. I want to grow a business that gives back and helps women and children to thrive. I am so proud that we already work with some wonderful charities through I=change and a portion of each sale goes straight to our partners doing such wonderful work.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I’m not sure I always do, but I try. I have days when I feel guilty that I am not always present because of pressing matters in the business, but I remind myself that am home with them and they are learning from seeing what I do. I think I also appreciate the time I have with them more now because I am fulfilling the other parts of myself through my work. Being able to be with my boys more and having flexibility was a big part of the decision to start the business in the first place so I feel very blessed that I am able to spend so much time with them while they are so little.
