After years working in the environmental sector, Llinos Merriman realised that most people genuinely care about the planet, but the day-to-day reality of living sustainably can feel overwhelming. Becoming a mum only deepened that understanding, as she struggled to balance eco-conscious choices with the busy rhythm of family life. From here came the idea for Bloom Well at Home: a gentle, practical space designed to make sustainable living feel possible, not perfect. Through her blog ‘Eco-ish Mama’ and a growing range of resources, Llinos champions progress over perfection, helping families embrace small, meaningful changes that fit naturally into everyday life. Here she talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind her business, how she balances work and family life, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I worked in the environmental sector for years, and something became so clear to me: the vast majority of people care about the planet, but it can be really overwhelming. There is too much information, too many choices and too many barriers to making consistent change. Then I became a mum and felt that overwhelm firsthand. I was trying to make better choices, but I also had nappies to change, meals to cook, a house to run and very little time to research every eco option out there.
That’s when the seed for Bloom Well at Home was planted. After speaking to other mum friends about it, I realised a lot of us are feeling this way. There was a real need for something gentler and more accessible. Something for people like me, living a pretty “normal” (and lovely!) life, who just needed eco living to fit around everything else on the to-do list. I wanted to create a space where sustainable living felt possible, not perfect. Eco-ish Mama, the blog side of the brand, became a place to share the honest, messy middle – because being eco-ish is still powerful. It’s about progress over perfection, and making changes that feel good, not guilt-ridden.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
It started with journalling and planning in stolen moments: trying to create simple ways to bring more intention and connection into our days. I shared these tools online and realised others were craving the same kind of support. I pulled together everything I knew, from my work in sustainability to my hands-on parenting life, and I’ve started offering free resources and practical content. I didn’t have a fancy set-up or big launch. Just a heart full of purpose and a desire to help other mums to feel less overwhelmed.

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
Embracing the idea that sustainability doesn’t have to be “all or nothing” – that was a game-changer. Once I acknowledged that most families are juggling so much already, I started creating resources and routines that meet people where they are. Our most popular content focuses on small, consistent actions and rhythm-based living that feels doable, not stressful. That shift, from guilt to grace, opened the door for a more inclusive and empowering eco community.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Much like the idea behind Bloom Well at Home, it’s all about flexibility and valuing what’s getting done. Balance looks different every day. I work in harmony with our family rhythm, using early mornings, nap times and quiet evenings to write, create and connect with our audience. My family are part of the journey, helping me test out nature activities or “approve” new planner pages. I’ve learnt not to chase perfection, but to keep coming back to our values: simplicity, connection and presence.
