Stephanie Beauverd is the creator of Dear Me Mother-to-be, a pregnancy journal born from her own journey through motherhood, reflection and inner healing. Drawing on her background and lived experience, she is passionate about supporting women to connect more deeply with themselves during pregnancy through gentle, intentional journalling. With a focus on mindfulness, emotional wellbeing and empowered birth, Stephanie has created a resource that encourages expectant mothers to slow down, prepare mentally for pregnancy and birth, and explore the transformative transition into motherhood with clarity and compassion. Here, she talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind her business, how she balances work and family life, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
One night, as I fed my six-month-old son (at the time), I started to reflect on what had helped me have such an empowered birth experience and peaceful pregnancy. I realised it was the inner work I had done that had the most profound impact: facing my fears, challenging my beliefs about birth, asking myself tough questions, healing past wounds and more.
The modality I used most frequently to undertake that inner work was journalling. Somehow, the idea simply entered my mind as I lay awake at 2am. “Wouldn’t it be awesome to make a journal that helps pregnant women do the same kind of powerful inner work I did, and have it all there in one resource for them?”. I thought, why not see what I could create without any expectations – and well, the rest is history: over 100 women have used and loved my journal!

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
Well having a six-month-old baby with not much support or time away from him, I started slowly, very slowly! It took about a year for me to create the journal, find a printer, get my first batch of journals printed and have everything I needed ready to share it with the world. I’d work on it 10 minutes here and there when my boy was sleeping but I wasn’t in a rush because I wanted to be intentional with what I was creating.
I launched my Dear Me Mother-to-be pregnancy journal in October of 2024. I really had no big expectations or goals when I first launched. I simply wanted to share my journals with pregnant women and I fully trusted if it was meant to be it would take off. For me the process of creating the journal and bringing it to life was something that really brought me so much joy during early postpartum. It gave me an outlet for my creativity and something to keep my mind active despite how sleep deprived I was!
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
I’d have to say when I realised early on that authentic relationships in business is the way to go. What I mean is that social media can create such an illusion of false connection: e.g., you have thousands of followers but are they actually real loyal customers who love your business?. I realised that building and nurturing genuine connections with the women who loved and bought my journal not only felt more aligned for me but for long-term business success it makes more sense than solely chasing numbers on social media. I’ve connected so many amazing pregnant women and also built connections with many amazing doulas, midwives, and the like, Australia-wide and even in many other parts of the world.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Well to answer this I first have to say that right now in my life, my family and my mothering always come first before business. Of course at times there are things in my business I have to attend to urgently and I’m lucky I have an amazing partner with a flexible work schedule who can take on parenting so I can do what I need to do business wise. Now I’m mainly working on my business when my son is sleeping or happily playing with his dad. I try to maintain a balance between working on my business and attending to my family by checking in with my needs first. I have pretty strong boundaries in which my self-care and my nervous system regulation needs to be supported on a daily basis because if I’m not in a good place nothing else runs smoothly, not my business nor my family! I love working because truly it doesn’t feel like work for me so I could easily over-work but I am very conscious of checking in with my self to ensure I don’t burn out. I also want to create a long-term sustainable business and I’m not afraid to go slow to make that happen.
