“Secondly, we have an excellent School Readiness programme that prepares older children to transition to a classroom setting. This programme has been designed to provide a quiet space with carefully selected resources, where students spend time in smaller groups with a dedicated teacher to better prepare them for primary school. We offer a buddy reading programme, alongside a range of complimentary extracurricular classes taught by specialist Strathallan teachers.”
There are also exciting times ahead as Angela and her team begin to introduce the Reggio Emilia philosophy throughout the Preschool.
The programme utilises self-directed, experiential learning based on principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration and discovery. Much of the curriculum takes place in the form of projects where children are given the opportunity to explore, observe, hypothesise, question, and discuss to clarify their understanding.
“We are very excited to be transitioning to a Reggio Emilia learning environment. The Reggio Emilia philosophy is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education, which values the child as strong, capable, and resilient, rich with wonder and knowledge.”
Described by friends and colleagues as someone who is committed to what she believes in, respectful of others and an enthusiastic self-starter, Angela is certain they would likely comment on the love and dedication she has towards her job as well.
“Anyone who knows me well would probably mention how passionate I am about children’s learning,” she confirms.
