Beautiful, Ethical & Sustainable Children’s Boutique

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

It is a struggle. I have 2 very busy toddlers at home and spending time with them always comes first. I utilise nap and kindy times to get a lot of intensive work done and my mum helps look after the kids when she can. Working from home is definitely a perk of the business.

Without our family there would be no Thursday Store. They are the reason we stock the items we do.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

The covid-19 lockdown has certainly been a challenge but the most important part of challenges is being flexible in overcoming them. The lockdown gave us time to sit back and assess how the store was running and explore some changes we could make. It bought a close to our store front but gave us time to develop new craft and activity kits and handmade items which are becoming a major part of the store now.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

You have to become a jack of all trades when you own your own business and that can at times be exhausting and other times exhilarating.

One of the pros is having flexibility to work around our young family and to be working in an area that I’m really passionate about.

At times it can be tough without the certainty of a 9-5 job but the pros definitely outweigh the cons for us.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We are focusing on growing our store in the next year so more families can enjoy making memories with our craft and activity kits.

We will continue developing our handmade goods and connecting with local artisans to make items for the store.

Head to The Thursday Store website to see their full range of beautiful products. You can also join their communities on Facebook and Instagram
