Best Ways to Support Children Around the World

By Jane Marsh

Children are the future. Unfortunately, many of them worldwide lack access to the resources they need to live a fruitful life – around one billion children worldwide live in poverty and millions are without proper health care. To solve these problems, various international aid organisations work to give these kids a boost to get what they need and live a successful life.

By contributing to these causes, you can aid young people and their families in a variety of necessary ways. Here are the three best ways to support children around the world.

1. Health Care

There’s a lack of eye care in some countries when the right resources could give kids back their sight in minutes. Through organisations like Gift of Sight, you can donate to help provide training for medical personnel and equipment to examine and treat children’s eyes.

People with disabilities in some parts of the world don’t have access to the mobility aids that will allow individuality. Through organisations like the Wheelchair Foundation, you can help provide assistance to the kids needing it most. Mobility will enable kids to be more independent and care for themselves and their families.

Organisations like World Vision and the International Medical Corps help to provide health care for young children. These charitable organisations set them up for positive health outcomes throughout life by offering vaccinations and other early childhood medical interventions. Save the Children works to address the health problems of school-age kids by providing medications and supplements as well as education about nutrition and sanitation.

When you provide health care to children worldwide, you are removing the suffering associated with preventable health conditions. When kids are healthy, they can go to school and work towards a better future. Good health also gives them the energy to play and interact with other kids.

2. Schooling

Many kids can’t afford to go to school, but they can get the education they deserve with proper funding. Organisations like ChildFund help ensure they have the opportunity to go to school regardless of their family’s financial situation.

Some children aren’t able to go to school because of their society. Girls don’t have access to the resources necessary to get an education in different parts of the world, while some cultures even threaten girls who try to go to school. That’s where projects such as the Every Last Child campaign provide protection and resources to kids suffering from their country’s views on schooling.

These organisations also help improve schools with proper bathrooms and safe drinking water. Children then learn to protect themselves from disease and keep their bodies healthy.

Develop Africa is one of the organisations that collects and distributes school supplies to students. These supplies aid these kids in their education by providing them with pencils, notebooks and other materials for the school year.
