The Birth of Reuben
Before going to bed, Lee and I discussed how the following day would be 5 days before our estimated due date, which is when Alice had arrived. A few hours later, just before midnight, my waters broke.
I had a shower and notified my midwife. Meanwhile Lee set the pool up in the lounge room where I had prepared my birth space and affirmations. We then went back to bed as I still had no contractions.
My first contraction started 1 hour and 15 minutes after my waters broke. I managed to breathe through the next few hours as their intensity increased.
At 4am, I woke Lee and he rang our midwife. Contractions were now extremely strong and I was vomiting. Our midwife arrived at 4:30am. I was helped into the pool shortly after.
