Boh Runga and Anika Moa Deliver Limited Edition Māma Pēpe Marigold Locket

Design Notes

Boh Runga Jewellery is made to be gifted. Since the launch of the first collection, Birdland in 2007, Boh Runga Jewellery has been bought by women as a treat for themselves, for their mothers or daughters, friends and partners; and by men as something special for their loved ones.

In 2018, Boh’s place as a go-to brand for meaningful gifts was solidified when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern chose to gift a pair of our earrings to Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, during her first Royal Tour of New Zealand.

For Boh, every collection starts with a story, and every design has a message.  that resonates with its recipient, and Marigold is no different.

“The Marigold locket came about specifically from Anika’s request to have a piece large enough to keep a lock of her little girl’s hair in it,” said Boh.

“For the first Marigold design, I wanted to have more of a contemporary feel to the locket, hence the squared off shape and the stylised floral motif. It’s a little bit traditional and a little bit modern.”

Boh says the idea of keeping a photo or a memento of a loved one on you is beautifully sentimental.

“It’s not like taking pic after pic and storing them on your phone to share on Instagram or Facebook. This is something tactile and personal that’s resting on your skin and is close to you.

“Our whakapapa and our stories are precious, passed down from generation to generation. When distance and time keep us apart, mementos can carry our stories and keep those that are special to us close,” said Boh.

“We can’t wait to hear the stories that Marigold unearth.”

Marigold is available in sterling silver online and at Boh Runga stockists around Aotearoa.
