Why Choose Merino When It Comes To Your Kids

Lightweight
Being lightweight is one of the most attractive things for kids, when it comes to merino. Kids want to be out there playing and adventuring, without thick, heavy clothing holding them back. Merino is lightweight due to the fineness of the wool. Super fine New Zealand knit merino is typically 19 micron – in comparison a human hair is 50 microns. Then it is very finely spun to make garments.

Odour control
Unlike synthetic fibres, merino is naturally resistant to odour and doesn’t retain odour like other fibres, which is great if you just can’t get it through the laundry straight away. In a pinch, try air drying.

Easy care
Merino fibres are strong and long – a merino fibre can be bent and twisted 20,000 times before it will break. It has natural stretch, is less likely to pill, needs no ironing and the garments are gentle machine washable. It also has a protective layer that that helps prevent stains from being absorbed – so no need to wash after every wear. However, when washing you must use wool detergent and do not soak or bleach or holes will develop in the garments. Click here for some good Merino care instructions.
