Create Your Best Pregnancy, Birth & Postpartum Experience

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I uncover new challenges every week. Running a business is not something I set out with intention to do and I often feel like I am doing things that are way beyond my professional capabilities, but I do them anyway. I am learning as I go and I am lucky to have an incredible group of mums and to-be mums who support me while I do that. One of my biggest challenges has been letting go of some control and outsourcing help. My life is made 100 times better by doing this, but my nature is wanting to wear all the hats all the time. I have learnt my business and my family and myself are all better off with other experts doing what they are great at, while I focus on the parts of my business I am great at.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The flexibility that comes with owning a business is one of the key reasons I love it so much. I don’t miss many opportunities to be with my kids when they’re doing something special which is amazing. In saying that, running a business does require constant attention so while I may be able to pick and choose what hours I am working, it is very hard to switch off fully.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I want Your Birth Project to be on as many screens as possible. I truly do believe that the course makes a difference to birthing experiences and the more people who have that knowledge with them when they go into labour, the better the birthing experiences they have. I want to grow the offering the course has to support previous trauma as well as so many other exciting things that I can’t wait to share! Watch this space.
