Find Your Creative Calm: Meditation & Mindfulness for Motherhood & Beyond

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I have ADHD, so while I really enjoy wearing all the different hats in my business, I am prone to procrastination and shiny thing syndrome (followed by overwhelm when I want to do ALL the things). To overcome this, I try and work as much as possible with the ebb and flow of my attention and energy, and give myself grace when on a ‘brain says no’ day I only achieve the minimum of what I’d set out to do.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The biggest pro is definitely the freedom to design your own work schedule, especially as a mum – this week I’ve been able to get to the school concert, sports day and summer fair AND do plenty of work on the business.

For me, the con is feeling the pressure to meet my income goal. I’ve given up the security of a regular wage and I don’t want that to impact on my family, so every month it’s a huge relief when the business continues to grow.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I’ve got so much planned for the next few months. I’m launching my Stress Makeover 1-1 hypnotherapy package (for mums who don’t recognise themselves in the mirror), so I’ve got lots to do behind the scenes on that, and I am writing a book provisionally titled ‘How to Cheat at Meditation’, all about how busy mums can find ways to fit meditation and mindfulness into their lives in a way that works for them.
