For Rana Arrif, supporting mums is about creating a space where they feel genuinely understood, cared for and never judged. As the owner of Preggi Central and founder of pregnancy and postpartum brand Mumasil, Rana has built her businesses around a simple but powerful belief: mothers deserve products, advice and support that are created with their real experiences in mind. From creating a welcoming sanctuary for mums in Frankston to developing practical postpartum products now available across Australia, Rana is passionate about making the pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum journey a little easier, one mum at a time. Here she talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind her work, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I wanted a create a space and products that could support mums throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey – somewhere they could ask any questions, feel supported and simply be themselves without any judgement.

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
We took over Preggi Central a year ago because we saw something special: a community of mums who felt genuinely supported, not just sold to.
Our Frankston flagship store is a sanctuary, with comfortable breastfeeding chairs, real advice from women who have been through it themselves, and a carefully curated range of brands that actually work. We’re now expanding that support online, making it easier for mums across Australia to find maternity wear that makes them feel like themselves. Because pregnancy and postpartum deserve clothing and care that truly understand what mums need.
Mumasil was born from lived experience. We started creating products designed by mothers, for mothers – not generic wellness products or one-size-fits-all solutions, but real products that address real challenges, from breastfeeding pain to postpartum recovery.
We’ve always been Australian-made and mum-run because we believe that authentic care comes from understanding what mothers actually go through. Today, Mumasil is trusted by thousands of mums across Australia, while remaining true to our original purpose: mothers supporting mothers, one product at a time.

The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
One of our biggest breakthroughs has been introducing new products and expanding our postpartum range into pharmacies. This has helped make our essential products more accessible to mums and means they can find the support they need more easily.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
With the help of my family, I’ve been able to work while also looking after the business. And, of course, when everyone goes to bed, I often use that time to work on the business.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Finding the right marketing team to help build and grow the brand has been one of our biggest challenges. Having the right people around you who understand your vision and can help bring it to life makes such a difference.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The biggest pro is the flexibility to work my own hours and the freedom to implement my own ideas.
As for cons, putting myself out there on social media, particularly making videos, has been challenging. It’s not something I’ve done before and it makes me feel very uncomfortable! However, I know that in the long run, building that connection and visibility is important for the success of the business. Another challenge is understanding where funds need to be invested and making sure every decision is the right one for the business.

Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’d love to continue growing my postpartum brand, Mumasil, and develop more products to support mums through their journey.
With Preggi Central, I hope to build greater brand awareness so that more mums know we’re here to support them with whatever they may need throughout pregnancy, breastfeeding and postpartum.
