Healing from the Inside with World-Class Detox & Functional Foods

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Like anything, there are drops in the market, especially during 2021/22. However, I always remembered that health equals wealth, and the more I continued to care about people more than business itself, the right people kept showing up.

When I became a new mum, there were all sorts of doubts and concerns rushing through my mind like, “Will I have enough time to manage the business?” and how will I handle the pressures of keeping up with administration and social media expectations?

I grew to learn that when you run a business from home, the challenges can become great lessons. I allowed the power of acceptance to take place in my life, letting myself go at the pace that was right for me and my family, by putting our health first. That surrendering and acceptance was liberating in its own way since we only get this time once with our children.

Nothing was better than a pen and a piece of paper to keep on top of things, calm the mind and creatively navigate through these challenges.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Pros: I can control my workload and I am able to choose my hours, and how much I want to get out of it. I can work my business around my family commitments and for the weeks that I need to prioritise my family, I can.

Being your own boss means the sky’s the limit with what you can achieve and the impact you can create for others. I enjoy content creation, education, and creating great service.

It can be a lot to juggle but it also teaches me so much. I really do love the ride.

I love conducting my time while creating opportunities and collaborating with others. You can create many win-wins to grow other local businesses, while adding to the growth of your own.

Cons: You don’t always wake up to a pay cheque as easy as you would if you worked for someone else, and it takes time to keep on top of everything when all you want to do is the fun stuff. There can also be uncertainty so I don’t take high risks at the moment to make sure I am able to enjoy this journey while being a mum.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We are currently based in Palmerston North and are about to spread our wings around the country. Slowly we are bringing on board new collaborators with a variety of health practitioners and shops.

Scott Collins continues to develop, research and release new products with new ingredients within the Grasses of Life range. As we continue to grow, we look forward to potentially having free webinars available to learn more about detoxification and support the community and family of Grasses of Life NZ in any way we can.

Also, keep an ear out for a new Self Care Podcast being launched called Press Pause. This is another great collaboration to support the health and wellbeing of our community.

Visit the Grasses of Life NZ website to find out more, and follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
