The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
We have had to learn to work together and understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. It has also been challenging to find suppliers that can help us with good quality products, but also help us to learn about the products we are using and work out what would work better for our furniture. On a daily basis, we are working through design challenges in regards to joinery etc. and making sure our products are super sturdy but also look pretty rad too.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The biggest pro for us bar none would be having people like the stuff we make. It is so cool to have customers old and young being like, damn that’s cool!
The cons are that it’s all on you. There is no safety net, so the challenges – little or big – are on your shoulders. Time and lack of it is a biggie for us and when issues arise, it puts pressure on us to still be able to meet deadlines, as we really don’t want to let anyone down.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We would love to be big enough to be able to run Charlie‘s Choice as a full-time business, broaden our product range, and make loads of cool products that people like.
