Luxury Self-Care for Modern Motherhood

The drive: What challenges have you faced since becoming the owner?

Time is the biggest one. Trying to manage a business alongside work and family means there’s not much space for deep focus. There’s also been a learning curve – from understanding ingredients to keeping track of finances, posting orders and managing social media. It’s a lot to take on when you’re doing it solo, and maybe I was a bit naive to what would be involved. I think that’s why it was important for me to be connected to the brand and have fun with it. Otherwise, I think it would be easy to give up.

Financially, it can be a bit daunting too. Having invested in something and not seeing instant returns. You have to trust the process and stay consistent.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of owning your own business?

The biggest challenge is that I suddenly have a hundred more things to juggle! As a Project Manager, I’m used to managing complexity, but not necessarily something I want to do more of outside the 9-5. The reward, though, is having a creative outlet. My day job is more structured, so running MEMO lets me use a different part of my brain. I’ve always loved science, and there’s something genuinely fun about mixing oils with precision using glass beakers and pipettes.

Beyond the creativity, what I’m building is about helping mothers feel valued and cared for. Mums give so much of themselves, and being able to create products that support them and make them feel special is incredibly rewarding.

Hopes and dreams: What’s next for you and the business?

My immediate focus is growing awareness, building a stronger presence online and understanding what customers want.

Over time, I’d like to expand the product range to include more wellness-focused items for mums and babies. But for now, I’m focused on getting the foundations right and seeing where the community’s feedback takes things.
