The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
The biggest challenge we have had to overcome is for people to know that TheRY compression products do more than what you can see on the surface. It’s a product that needs to be worn to understand the benefits, because otherwise it looks like just another legging or sock. But it is anything but that.
The biggest benefit that TheRY graduated compression socks and leggings provide is helping to improve circulation. This is important given it has been found that up to 80% of women will have insufficient circulation during pregnancy. Good circulation is important for blood flow to the placenta to deliver nutrients for the growth of the developing baby. Good circulation is also important for helping reduce fatigue, swollen legs, feet and ankles, and spider veins.
There is a lot of misinformation with many brands calling themselves compression when they are not anything but a tight legging. There are many fake reviews and testimonials. We do not pay influencers or pay for posts. We would rather have fewer likes, followers and reviews than fake ones. Our products are tested and listed with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) and can be trusted.
We believe our product can stand up and have also implemented a 30-day free trial of products through our site. If you don’t love the products as much as we do, you can get your money back.
We are being discovered every day by new mums including Emma Hawkins, as well as midwives. We were also recently contacted to be stockists for The Memo. Our products are available at their flagship store in Armadale.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are that you are involved in every aspect of the business and across everything. This is also part of starting a new business. We haven’t too many cons yet – mostly we always need more time to get to everything done.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
There’s a long to-do list. There are still many more pregnancy issues that products could help. We are researching and consulting with experts for more products with 3 new ones in the pipeline. We will continue to create products that serve a purpose without compromising comfort, luxury, and style.
For the longer term, while we started with maternity we have already been asked why we don’t make other products outside of maternity because of the benefits of compression. It’s something we will consider but for the moment our focus is on pregnancy and postpartum.
