The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
This year, we have had to go completely to an online version of all the classes/workshops and that has had its challenges as everyone went into lockdown. The challenges of Zoom and the internet in 2020 had us frustrated but we made it work. Even with the ordering of stock and supplies, things have been out of stock more often this year so we have had to be patient. Also, with the accessories, we had to find new suppliers in some cases to keep up with the demand. It’s all part of owning a business.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Some of the pros of running your own business include the time/location freedom and freedom to be creative in how you run it, especially around your family life. I love networking with lots of other inspiring mums on similar amazing journeys to me who are also running other businesses around family. I also love running this business because I am helping mums/new mums by empowering them to change to natural solutions and live low-tox lives. I am also empowering mums that they can do the same thing I am doing, which is run their own business from home even without any prior knowledge of owning a business.
The con of running your own business is that it can be hard to switch off from it at times and take a break from working on it. That’s probably the only con I have. I love running this business and sharing these amazing drops of nature, and helping mums with natural ways to support their health and wellness and their family’s health and wellness.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
My goal is to build Dragonfly Oils and Accessories up to be one of the leaders in the industry and expand my accessory range. I also hope to start having some regular workshops again where you can come along and learn how to make the DIY items we make on our page like handwash, bodywash, immunity gummies, baby items such as baby wipes, cleaning wipes, bath bombs, etc., at an in-person event or online possibly before Christmas.
