Natural products for baby’s delicate skin

Hearing mummas raving about our products is what keeps us going and wanting to get more #gillygoodness out there.  Baby skincare products that are so good that mums have had a sneaky use themselves and even found their husbands getting their dose of #gillygoodness by running a Gilly Goat Milk Oil bath for themselves.  We just love hearing back from our customers!

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I try to keep my work at work and home life with Mila (who is now 16 months old!) and Mum, at home – although you never really switch off (thanks internet…). I do childcare drop offs so I get to see Mila in the mornings and do activities on weekends with her. Managing time with your family when your little one is so young is crucial, plus you never want to miss anything! I must admit that sometimes those lines do get blurred, but for good reasons. We used my Mila as our baby muse for the Gilly photo shoot for new imagery which is now used on our website and socials. She loves Gilly so having her as part of the business even if she doesn’t know it helps with that balance.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Social media reach and word of mouth recommendations. Mothers are very protective over their children and this naturally extends to what they put onto their skin. As a new brand we had no credibility and building this has taken time and is still a work in progress.

With the way consumers are purchasing now and the ease of which they can get information it is important to be transparent with what is in your product. In the long run, we want mums to be comfortable using our products every day (I know I am!) and to also be comfortable in recommending them to their friends.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Time commitment – it can be hard to juggle multiple things (family with a baby and business) and keep everything balanced. The pros are the flexibility and the potential and scope. All the feedback we have had for Gilly Goat has been positive, from mothers with little ones with sensitive skin to new mothers wanting natural products that are toxic free and can be used daily on their little ones. We have heard nothing but good things and this in itself is very rewarding and makes us all feel good here at Gilly.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

We wish we had a crystal ball to answer that! We of course have plans, goals and strategies, however they do shift and shape as time goes by. All we can say is that it is our vision to continue to expand and grow the Gilly Goat brand and grow to be recognised as leaders of quality Australian baby care essentials. When you think clean, beautiful and effective baby skin care, we want Gilly Goat to be front of mind.
