Never Underestimate What Kindness Can Do

This dear lady was the art teacher and after more than 7 years, and countless students, she remembered me. She remembered telling her supervisor about this mother with a young baby who came alive in the room and created amazing stuff. We were reconnected and it meant so much to both of us.

As I step into each day with my son it is different now, as I walked down memory lane thanks to this timely meeting with this woman I remembered. I remembered so much, I remembered how my heart felt when I was in that room, creating just for love. The process of opening up to this side of me, how I felt and the glow it gave me. For my world had changed so much, I totally and utterly loved being a mum, but it opened up the truth to so many things and my heart ached at what I saw.

Yet one meeting, with one woman, lifted my spirits. So to all you readers and parents who follow your hearts, the simplest of meetings can have the most profound effect on an other. Never underestimate what kindness can do, reach out to someone, reach out today and bring some light into the life of another.

In linking with others we elevate, them and ourselves. Remember the baby stage, remember how your world completely altered, the rebalancing that was needed. How tired you were, how lonely, how much love you had for your baby, but also the reality that things would never be the same again.

We all love the picture perfect fairy stories. The truth is so much more. We grow, we change when we become parents and we realise how very very human we are.

Reach out and be that woman, who lit up my day and many days after. See the mother, really look into her eyes and just hold the space. For you say in that moment, ” I see you”, and that is enough.
