Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
Umm! It is really tricky as my husband works full time. To make the most of what time I do have for work, I have to have structure around what I am doing – lots of lists and prioritising what needs to be done when. And then just fitting in what I can in the evenings!
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Having to put myself out there! I find that really hard so that is a work in progress. I just have to keep reminding myself of my passion to help people and share my knowledge and if I can help just a handful of people then it is worth it.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros are definitely the flexibility. I practised law for about 9 years and that was really hard while having a family. It wasn’t flexible at all. So this way I get to be more involved in the kids’ day-to-day life.
The cons are lack of time and the juggle of being everything to everyone and trying to make an income!
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’d just really like to keep growing the business in a way that suits us as a family. At the moment the focus is on the kids while they are young, but as I have more time I would like to really build my clientele and help more people, especially mums!
