The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
There are always challenges. If I’ve learned anything from being self-employed with three children during a pandemic, it’s that challenges are inevitable. Recently, my personal email was hacked, leading to a bank visit and the loss of my 15-year-old Facebook page. Despite setbacks, I persevere.
I’ve also had to confront and process my own birth traumas, which was an incredibly challenging and deeply personal journey. Each painful memory and difficult moment became a stepping stone toward greater understanding and empathy. Through this process, I realized the profound impact that birth experiences can have on a woman’s life. This transformation fueled my passion to support other mums, ensuring they feel empowered, respected, and cared for during their birthing journeys. By sharing my own experiences and the lessons I’ve learned, I am dedicated to helping other women achieve the positive, empowering birthing experiences they truly deserve.
For Better or Worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
Running your own business can be lonely, with much time spent on solitary tasks like admin and social media. However, it’s peaceful without office gossip. Financial highs and lows are part of the journey; sometimes, you worry about making rent, while other times, you can plan a family holiday. Financial stability improves over time, but I still do a happy dance when a new client signs up!
Hopes and Dreams: What next?
I am currently developing online holistic antenatal courses designed to be easily accessible and understandable, available anytime, anywhere, through my new Buy Me a Coffee memberships page. These courses offer flexibility and convenience, allowing you to pay only while you’re actively using the information. Once you’ve completed a course, you can easily transition to another one that piques your interest. My goal is to provide comprehensive support throughout your pregnancy journey, ensuring you have access to valuable resources whenever you need them.
Further down the line, I aim to grow Mother Gaia by joining forces with like-minded individuals who share my passion for holistic birth support. My vision is to create a nurturing and empowering space where women can access a wide range of services tailored to their unique needs. Imagine hypnobirthing classes that provide deep relaxation and mental preparation, pregnancy yoga sessions that promote physical and emotional well-being, and a dedicated team of doulas ready to support and guide women through every stage of their birthing journey.
I am excited to bring these services to our community, enhancing the birthing experience for countless families. The journey ahead is filled with possibilities, and I am eager to connect with others who are as passionate about birth and wellness as I am. There’s so much more to come, and I can’t wait to share my journey with you.
