Pelvic Dysfunction: Your Questions Answered

What should I expect when I book a pelvic floor assessment?

At osteoh, the pelvic floor and postnatal WOF is 60 minutes long. It involves a comprehensive consultation and examination (with or without internal assessment), followed by treatment, exercise and aftercare advice. Patients are recommended to wait at least 6 weeks post-birth or until they have finished their postpartum bleed. The consent process is robust, and you are able to stop the appointment at any point in time. Of utmost importance is your comfort and consent throughout the process. You do not need a referral to see an osteopath.

Haley has a Masters Degree in Osteopathy. She is a specially trained Osteopath who has undertaken additional studies in the pelvic health space and also the treatment of babies and children. After having her baby, she noticed a huge void in the pre- and postnatal care of women in New Zealand and she has seen too many women suffering, along with preventable and fixable issues being labelled as ‘normal’ after having a baby. She is here to offer mums that extra support when it’s needed the most, and have a relatable chat about the trials and tribulations of all things motherhood. Her clinic is local to West Auckland, but if you live further afield, she is always happy to have a chat over the phone and offer you some recommendations for practitioners in your area. Find her at osteoh.nz or on Facebook.
