The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Challenges come in different shapes and sizes and one that I have really noticed is having low numbers on group courses in my area. This seems specific to my location as I know many other hypnobirthing teachers who are raving about their classes! Local to me, the demand for hypnobirthing and learning about antenatal education is quite low and so the more I can share whenever I can, I’m hoping that slowly it starts to catch on! My 1:1 courses are more popular so I’m investing in these a little more right now. I have learnt the art of patience in this regard, and I continue to work as hard behind the scenes as well as in front of them.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
For sure, the pros of running my own business are that I get to work around my health and give so much more time to myself and my family. I’ve noticed that I’m not burning out like I have been used to in previous jobs, which is brilliant for my mental health. Another pro is being able to stay ahead and on top of life, holding boundaries and being able to say yes to things that otherwise I would have been limited to. Physically, a con might be that I have reduced a lot of activity in my daily pattern and so working outside of the home more regularly helps with this. Again, my health really determines what and how much I can do! Plus, as previously mentioned, the self-employed life can be slightly lonely and so a team dynamic with working with others is something that I really value. Having said that, the quiet days where I can just sit and blitz a whole to-do list are SO rewarding!

Hopes and dreams: What next?
Wow, I’ve always been able to visualise very well and so this question is a very easy one. I often fantasise about my future home studio and the ability to offer retreats to my gorgeous mums-to-be. I would also love to expand my business to include baby massage and women’s circles too and to become more of a village visionary for my community.
Excitingly, I have just added a certain special product to my business for 2025! My Mum-To-Be Hampers are gifts for yourself or someone you love, pre-packaged for a luxe and pampered birth.
