Teach them to conserve water
Energy conservation isn’t limited to electricity consumption – it’s also important to make water conservation a priority to help save on water and energy bills. Encourage your children to take daily showers instead of baths, since one bath can use as much as 30 gallons of water. On hot days, let them shower with cool water instead of turning the water heater on, since it’s more refreshing, and it can help to lower your bills. Older children can be taught to time their showers, while younger kids should be reminded not to keep the water running while they’re cleaning themselves.
Kids should also be taught to use a glass while brushing their teeth, and to turn off the tap when not in use.
Knowing how to use energy responsibly is a skill that will benefit anyone, whether they’re young or old. Teach your child about the right way to use energy to save money, and make conservation a habit so everyone in the family can do their part to save the environment.
