The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Many! This business has made me step out of my comfort zone on so many levels. In the early days, the thought of having to speak to a group of people caused me much anxiety and would make my feel physically sick. Good thing I had my oils to support me! Now I love speaking to people.
I also needed to accept some people’s negative perception of this business model and not let their personal opinions get to me. While it may not be right for them, it is right for me and for many others. That is what matters.
Learning not to take it personally when nobody shows up to my workshop was a challenge. In the beginning it would really upset me. Now I just accept it and move on.
My business has definitely helped me to overcome some fears and to grow so much personally.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
I think the biggest pro is being able to work my own schedule. Not having to ask a boss if I can have time off to attend my children’s school activities. I’m my boss!
I guess the biggest con is you don’t have a guaranteed weekly wage. When you are first starting out, it isn’t a lot of money. In this business you dictate how much you earn by how much you are willing to put in. Some months can be great, some can be quite slow. The earning potential is quite fantastic though.
Some people start a doTERRA business thinking it is a get rich quick scheme and soon become disillusioned when they aren’t seeing immediate results. It is like any other business – it takes time, passion and persistence to move forward.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I hope to continue to introduce people to these beautiful oils. They have had such a positive impact on my life in many ways and I feel so privileged being able to share with them others. I also hope to keep growing my team and supporting my team members to reach their goals as they grow their own team and business. I would also love to have a team in Canada, my second home. That is something I am going to pursue.
My ultimate goal is to be in a financial position to be able to help abused children. This is something dear to my heart that really drives me and helps me remain focused.
