Feeling scared and out of control while pregnant with her own babies, Emma Earrye discovered a lack of support for women during this period, and realised that other mums must be struggling with their wellbeing and anxiety at this time also. She created Mumma’s Wellness to support mothers throughout their journey-from pregnancy and birth to postpartum care and beyond. Their mission is to empower you with the confidence and resources you need to thrive as a mother, while celebrating your strength and nurturing your wellbeing every step of the way. Here Emma talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the inspiration behind her business, how she balances work and family life, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I was pregnant with my first daughter in 2019 – I was a nursery practitioner and had lots of nieces and nephews so I didn’t think I needed to know anything about birth or babies. I quickly discovered I was wrong, I was terrified and filled with anxiety through my pregnancy. I suffered in silence as I felt guilty for feeling this way. I then had a long traumatic labour where I felt scared and out of control. I didn’t know anything about birth and that really affected me in the postnatal period. I then fell pregnant again two years later and felt much the same. My birth was completely different, it was so quick. I felt like I grieved this experience and wanted to start learning all I could about pregnancy, birth and beyond. I then discovered so many women struggled with the anxiety and struggled with their wellbeing. That’s how I got to create Mumma’s Wellness.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
I completed an antenatal and postnatal education course and began building my business. I began doing small 1:1 sessions and have built my business from there.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
My biggest breakthrough was when I consistently began helping mothers in all aspects of their journey from pregnancy to the postnatal period. I began making a difference in their journeys and that has been truly amazing.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I always try to make a plan – both in work and family life. I like to know what I’m doing and when I’m doing it. Having a plan saves time and allows me to balance myself between my work and my girls.
