With over two decades of experience in early childhood education, Lisa Wallace is committed to supporting families during the earliest and most formative years of life. As a mum of four, she knows firsthand how overwhelming and emotionally charged the weaning journey can be. In 2016, she pioneered the UK’s first edible messy play sessions for babies – an innovative blend of sensory exploration and nourishment. She saw a glaring need for parent support that was kind, empowering and judgement-free. That’s when Intuitive Weaning was born, along with the KIND™ method – a unique, heart-led approach to starting solids that centres on connection, trust and tuning into each baby’s individual rhythm. Here, Lisa shares the passion behind her business, the challenges she has overcome, and her hopes and dreams for the future.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
After over two decades working in early years, and launching the UK’s first ever edible messy play sessions for babies back in 2016, I saw how much parents craved guidance that was kind, hands-on and judgement-free. My own experiences as a mum – including the awful moment of being publicly criticised at a baby group, despite my professional background – lit a fire in me. I wanted to create a space where parents could truly feel supported and seen, not shamed. That’s how Intuitive Weaning and the KIND™ method were born. I help parents step into their baby’s mindset so they can build a joyful, trust-based relationship with food from the start.

The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
Like many mums, I started with a dream during nap times and late-night feeds! I knew I wanted to share my expertise in a way that felt nurturing, not overwhelming. I launched a small service offering 1:1 support and weaning calls, and I began creating free resources and workshops for parents – things I wish I’d had when I was weaning my own children. Slowly but surely, word began to spread. My Facebook group, The Intuitive Weaning Movement, grew with likeminded parents looking for kind, realistic guidance. It was scrappy and imperfect at first, but it was honest and full of heart.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
The moment I realised that weaning isn’t just about food – it’s about the relationship between parent and child – everything changed. That breakthrough led me to develop my KIND method:
Kindness
Individual
Nurture
Discover
It’s not about strict schedules or perfect meals – it’s about tuning into your baby’s unique journey, building trust and making mealtimes joyful. The KIND method gave my business its heart and soul, and it’s what makes my approach stand out in a sea of one-size-fits-all advice.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
It’s definitely a juggle! I’m a mum of four, including neurodiverse children and a home-educated daughter, so structure and flexibility are both essential. I’ve learned to give myself permission to slow down when needed and to build a business that works with my life, not against it. I plan my week with clear blocks for home educating, housework and client time, and I don’t shy away from asking for help. My family comes first, but I also want my children to see me chasing my dreams and helping others. That balance isn’t always perfect, but it’s real. And now, my eldest daughter wants to join me in the business one day, which is the most rewarding part of all.
