A Gentle Space to Navigate the Becoming of Motherhood

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

One of my biggest challenges was navigating matrescence myself while still trying to show up in my work and life. When I had my second child, I found myself in the thick of that transformation, and it was during that season that Rewoven Matrescence began to take shape. Becoming a mother had already cracked me open in ways I didn’t expect: exhaustion, identity shifts, gaps in support and the quiet realisation that I needed more than what the system offered. With two little ones, that truth became impossible to ignore.

Another challenge was giving myself permission to build something new while I was still in it. Stepping out of traditional OT roles and trusting my vision required courage, especially while raising young children and learning to prioritise my own wellbeing. There were moments of doubt, stretched capacity and questioning whether I had the energy to create what I so deeply believed was needed.

But each challenge shaped the heart of my work. They taught me resilience, clarity and compassion, and they fuel my drive to ensure other women don’t have to walk those same hard edges alone.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

Running my own business means I get to create work that feels deeply meaningful and aligned with my values. I can shape my days around my family, honour my own rhythms and build something that genuinely supports women in the ways I once needed. There’s a real sense of purpose, creativity and autonomy that I cherish.

It also comes with uncertainty, responsibility and the constant juggling act of wearing every hat: creator, administrator, marketer, therapist, mother. There’s no guaranteed roadmap, and sometimes it can feel lonely or overwhelming.

But even with the challenges, the freedom to build work that matters, and the impact it has, makes it undeniably worth it.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Looking ahead, I’m committed to expanding this work in ways that truly serve women. I’m envisioning deeper community spaces, more accessible support and offerings that meet mothers wherever they are in their matrescence, whether that’s conception, postpartum or the ongoing journey of becoming that extends well beyond the early years.

I plan to grow the 12-week online program, create more resources for everyday support and build a connected village where women feel held, understood and never alone in their transformation.

Ultimately, what’s next is simple: continuing to weave evidence-based care with heartfelt connection, and creating spaces that honour the whole woman, not just the mother she’s becoming.
