A Healthier, Happier And More Confident You

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Nobody has it perfect. I’d be silly if I sat here and said that I know how to perfectly balance both work and family. But I try my absolute best. I’m a workaholic, yet I also love spending time with my 5-year-old daughter… or having a sneaky G and T with my husband. I think for me, the best way to balance work and family is to make sure that no matter what I’m doing, I am present.

If I’m working on an email or have to take an important call whilst at home – I will. But in doing that I make sure to give my whole focus to that one work task. The same goes for when I spend time with my family. If my daughter wants to stick thousands of stickers onto a blank sheet of paper, you best bet I will be sticking those stickers to the best of my ability.

Throughout the 8 years now of working and growing this business, I have tried far too many times to do both things at once. Sit with my family whilst working on my phone. Or sit at the office whilst wondering what to plan for my eldest’s 18th. It truly has only been in the last 6 months to a year that I have learned what work/family balance is for me. If I’m going to focus on something, I need to go all in.

Some people can do both at the same time extremely well – and that may be what works for them. But I’m someone who finds myself not focusing on either task when I’ve got too much to do… So an hour to work here and an hour to cuddle my hubby and baby there is what I’ve got to do!

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

The biggest challenge I have had to overcome is the weight loss industry itself. It has such a bad name and such a bad reputation. The weight loss industry has been demonised for ‘pressuring’ women to look a certain way. And it is so heartbreaking that for years there have been companies known to do this. However, our goal at Slim By Nature is to make you feel comfortable in yourself! You should not be shamed for wanting to lose weight if it will grow your confidence, in the same way you shouldn’t be shamed for wanting to gain weight if it will grow your confidence.

We support women doing what makes them happy. So, overcoming the standardised market and the ‘fad’ companies, has been a real challenge. We don’t want you to look a certain way, we want you to feel better! And we go about weight loss the right way. Our incredible community of women are there to support each lady every step of the way. Women who have completed the Detox, women who are on their Detox journey, and women who are simply curious. Our Facebook group is the biggest support system we have built, and it does a world of wonders for our ladies’ success.

On top of that, we actually educate our SBN ladies. The weight loss industry thrives off of women not actually knowing how to lose weight, what it is, and how to do it the healthy way. We do not support this. Knowledge is the most powerful tool, and we have a team of qualified nutritionists and naturopaths that are available to guide each client every step of the way with REAL education.

With so many women afraid to admit that they want to lose weight, countless are turning to these fad diets and silly methods – with no real education. We are here to educate women, empower them, and help them to own their truth. We don’t want you to feel bad about being on a weight loss journey! SBN is an opportunity to receive the right knowledge, support, incredible products, and lose weight the right way.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

When it comes to running your own business, you truly need to love it. You need to be passionate and inspired about what you do. Because let me tell you, it takes up a lot of your time. Far too much sometimes. There can be some really tricky times, difficult situations, and exhausting late nights – but if you truly love what you do and believe in it wholeheartedly… it’s all worth it.

As much as it drains my time, I am also incredibly lucky to have such a supportive family. They help me in any way they can and always remind me why I do what I do when I am having bad days.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I truly do hope to see SBN grow and help more women. It sounds cheesy, but there is no feeling like hearing from a client who has changed her life and flourished with confidence after being with us. I want to expand and keep serving more women. I hope to one day have not just thousands, but hundreds of thousands flourish with self-love.

We have so many little secret projects in the works, but until then, I am so humbled and blessed to have a business that helps women the way I dreamed it would. Having your dreams come true only gives you a platform to keep dreaming, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
