The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was simply getting out of my own way. I had to learn the legalities of running a business, build the confidence to host classes, and even let go of self-consciousness in the little things – like singing nursery rhymes in a circle full of parents and babies, laughing at myself and embracing humour to create connection.
With no background in self-employment, it’s been a journey of guidance seeking, course enrolment and continuous learning to make sure I’m on the right path.
There have even been knock-backs too. I once hoped to collaborate with a charity supporting dads and when it didn’t work out, it was disheartening. But I reminded myself that setbacks can simply redirect us. I directed that passion into finding another way, offering tailored session to dads through different avenues. Dads are such an important part of the parenting journey too and I’m committed to creating inclusive spaces for every kind of family. When the vision is rooted in love, there’s always another path forward.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
The pros? Well, there are so many! I get to pour my heart into something I’m deeply passionate about and feel the beautiful energy exchange that comes from giving something I care so much about to others. I still squeal with excitement when a new client books on. That feeling, I don’t think, will never get old! I always leave a one-to-one session buzzing with joy after witnessing a parent cradle their newborn or seeing a mama-to-be gently stroking her growing bump with such maternal instinct and love.
I love that this work blends so naturally into my home life. I can choose hours that work for our family rhythm, expand without limits, and infuse my offerings with all the love I have in my heart for it. This year alone, I’ve added Mother Blessing ceremonies and sacred Rebozo: Closing of the Bones practice into my training – both of which I can hold in intimate community spaces or right here at home.
This work lets me travel within my local community, connecting with families and witnessing their magic. Having my own business has taken me further afield to train alongside incredible, like-minded women who lift me up as I do them. Through this self-employment, business launch journey, I’ve gained sisterhood, found my voice and even begun to share my poetry – something I never would’ve imagined before stepping into this path.
The cons? Well, there’s the reality of “slow” seasons in the baby wellness industry – the times when bookings dip and I feel the weight of needing to welcome new families, knowing income depends on it to keep my business sustainable. And I’ll be honest, I’m not exactly a social media queen. Filters, trending audios, clever captions? Not my strong suit. I simply show up as I am and speak from the heart, which may not be the most polished marketing strategy… but it’s authentically me, and I’m learning as I go. Even with the challenges, the freedom, joy and soul-deep fulfilment of this work far outweigh any cons.

Hopes and dreams: What next?
Next for me is to deepen my roots in the community – to gather the village together, heart to heart. Late summer here in the UK, I’ll be stepping out into the community with stalls at local galas and town halls, calling in parents and babies who are seeking something more than just a class – those who crave deeper connection with themselves, each other and with the embrace of true community.
I’m here to invite, to listen and to hold. To create spaces where parents feel belonging, seen and supported right from the beginning with pregnancy relaxation sessions to postpartum Closing of the Bones rituals that honour the incredible journey of motherhood.
Something I will share here as another dream of mine that is developing (because love knows no boarders): I’ll be holding sessions online, including pregnancy relaxation, baby confidence as well as specialist support offering gentle guidance for sleep, colic and wind. These will be held through virtual connections; I can now expand my offerings to parents far beyond my local area – even overseas! This is so every family who needs this care can access it.
I’ll be weaving connections with people, professionals and businesses who share my values, creating a tapestry of support for parents and babies that is holistic. My poetry will continue to be a thread in that weave, drawn from my own lived experiences of infertility, parenthood and womanhood – offered as words of understanding, love and solidarity.
And come winter, I’ll be opening women’s circles – gatherings for stories, rest and connection.
The vision is endless, and my heart is ready.
Wellness of the Wildflowers isn’t just a business; it’s a living extension of my heart. Every class, workshop and quiet moment holding space is an invitation for parents to slow down, tune in and truly see the magic in themselves and their babies.
Whether you join me in person, meet me online from miles away, or simply read a poem I’ve shared, just know you are stepping into a village built on love, compassion and belief that no parent should walk this journey alone. Come and connect… your place in the circle is already waiting for you.
