When you go shopping for swimsuits, are you one of those people that have the luxury to walk in and pick the first set you like and feel amazing? I’m not. In fact, I end up trying on swimmers for an hour or more and feeling less and less comfortable in my own skin. Swimmers are underwear having a day out, let’s face it. We are exposed and vulnerable in our own skin at this point. So if we are not comfortable in what we are wearing, our feeling of exposure skyrockets.
After realizing how I was feeling, I started to wonder how many other women feel the same way. How many of us have succumbed to the overly inaccurate version of womanhood that the media portrays?
All women should feel beautiful in their own skin and we need to start seeing ourselves as perfect.
As a curvy woman and mother of five children, I generally feel amazing in my own skin. Swimsuit shopping can put a dampener on this feeling but at the end of the day I know that I am perfect just the way I am. All women should feel beautiful in their own skin and we need to start seeing ourselves as perfect.
Women of all shapes and sizes are beautiful and shouldn’t have to feel uncomfortable in their own skin. We are amazing as we are and we need the media to show women in their true form, not the Photoshopped version that is portrayed today.
