Capturing Authentic Family Life Through Photography

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Building a business while raising children comes with self-doubt, financial pressure and a constant juggle.

Being late diagnosed with AuDHD also meant learning how to structure my work in a way that supports me instead of fighting against how my brain works. It’s been a process of backing myself and trusting my creative instincts.

Another challenge in the beginning was comparison to other photographers. I would doom scroll other works and this would create a lot of doubt in my own work. I’ve overcome this by finding incredible mentors to learn from, doing the inner work to clarify exactly how I want to show up and finding confidence in my own creative instincts, whilst still appreciating the difference and beauty in others.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The best part is creating work that feels deeply meaningful and aligned with who I am. I get to shape sessions in a way that feels honest and personal instead of following a “perfect” formula.

The challenging part is the unpredictability – income can ebb and flow, and the responsibility sits fully on my shoulders.

I’m still building toward more freedom, but this is the work I’d be doing even if I won the lottery. It genuinely fills my cup.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I want to keep refining my work and creating motherhood sessions that feel personal and memorable. I’d love to expand into more creative projects and continue building something that celebrates modern family life in an honest way.

Mostly, I just want to keep documenting the moments that matter before they slip by and have fun with it. A big goal is definitely another “feeding line” project, not only here in Australia but hopefully in New Zealand, this time even bigger!

I’d love to get into the educational space too eventually.
