Cloth Nappies for the Brave, the Conscious & the Curious

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

We are still learning and have our training wheels on in this respect. We have a shared vision for family and work life which is a cornerstone, as well as working on our passions and things we value, which keeps our hearts engaged. It’s not easy, as all parents know. You will face the pressure in one way or another at different crossroads. A personal mantra is that a rolling stone gathers no moss. So even though it is hard, keeping busy has always just tended to be the way we roll.

The Drive: What challenges have you overcome?

There are all sorts of challenges when starting a business. Firstly, in product design. Going down dead ends and the time it takes to get things right. Often in the process of something not working out, something better was created which is an interesting dynamic. Of course, financial challenges have been difficult too. Things always end up costing more than you initially forecast. There has been lots of new learning in different areas and everyday practicalities, like packing, storage and transport and how to do some of these with a toddler on the scene!

For Better or Worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

As most would say, flexibility. Both a blessing and a curse! Other pros are creative control and having a vision that you get to work toward. There is a lot of positive energy in that as well as meeting similarly minded people. Sharing your passion with others and discussing the products and troubleshooting is a lot of fun.

Cons include having to do everything, which includes both your strengths and weaknesses. We have different strengths, which helps, but the exciting idea of having your own business doesn’t include all the necessary admin tasks which are essential.

Hopes and Dreams: What’s next?

We want to keep offering quality products and expand the styles of nappies available, as the seasoned nappy ninjas out there all have different preferences in terms of style. We want to anchor ourselves in as a business happy to help anyone interested in using cloth nappies and making it as straightforward as possible to use just one a day or use them for one day a week. We want to keep finding ways to show people that it is a feasible alternative to use one time, some of the time, part time or all the time. We want people to know that their personal use makes a significant difference, which is really cool. If each baby uses up to 6,000 disposable nappies and you want your baby to reduce by just one, to 5,999 we are here to help!
