The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Like many mothers building a business, one of the biggest challenges has been learning to pursue my purpose while raising young children and managing the demands of family life. There have also been personal health challenges along the way, including postnatal depletion and navigating hormonal changes – hello perimenopause!
My family has also experienced significant transitions, including relocating countries and rebuilding our lives in new places. Those experiences can be both exciting and deeply challenging at the same time.
In many ways, these challenges have shaped the work I do today. They have given me a deeper empathy for the women I support and reinforced how important it is for mothers to feel seen, understood and supported during these seasons of life.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
One of the greatest benefits of running my own business is the sense of purpose it brings. I get to do work that genuinely matters to me while creating flexibility around my family. Supporting mothers through such a transformative season of life is incredibly meaningful, and my work is very heart-led.
At the same time, starting a coaching and support business is not easy. It can be quite isolating, particularly when much of the work happens online in a space that is already very saturated. I know there are many mothers who need this kind of support, but sometimes it can feel challenging to reach them through all the noise, which can feel defeating at times.
There is also a delicate balance between the heart-led nature of my work and recognising the value of what I offer. While I have spent many hours providing pro bono support to vulnerable mothers, I have also had to learn the importance of honouring my own worth and the expertise I bring.
Running your own business also requires strong boundaries. I’ve learned that if I don’t protect my work time and family time, the lines can quickly blur and I end up not being fully present in either role. It’s an ongoing practice of learning when to switch off and return to what matters most.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
My hope is to continue expanding the conversation around matrescence and women’s health, so that mothers feel better supported during this transition. I want to keep creating programs, workshops and educational resources that help women understand what is happening in their bodies and their identities during motherhood. Now that we are settled back in Australia, I would absolutely love to run mother circles where mums can come together and explore the concepts of matrescence and how it has impacted their lives in a safe, nurturing environment.
I’m also passionate about continuing to write and share these messages more widely, helping to normalise the realities of motherhood that many women experience but rarely talk about openly.
Ultimately, my dream is simple: that more mothers feel seen, supported and empowered to care for themselves as deeply as they care for everyone else.
