Luxurious Flax Linen to Help Your Baby Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I’m grateful that I have a wonderful and supportive wife who is my biggest cheerleader. We try to communicate our needs and plan ahead to help make our day to day run a little smoother. It doesn’t always work, and it’s not always balanced but we try our best, re-evaluate when we need to and keep moving forward.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Working with suppliers in Europe has been particularly challenging this year given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Every industry has been impacted by the uncertainty around timescales for shipping and raw material price increases. Being a small startup meant we were agile enough to flex and change strategy. That’s why initially we ran on a pre-order basis, so we were only producing what we needed to help minimise costs and waste.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

For me, there is something empowering about creating something for the purpose of having a positive impact on people’s lives and on the planet. It’s stressful at times and can feel a little daunting making solo decisions – I’ve definitely had the old imposter syndrome creep in. I have learned the value of leaning into a network of other women who have been there and done it. I also like to write down moments of inspiration to reflect back on when I need them.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I’m looking forward to spending Christmas at home in London this year as usually we would travel to the grandparents. After that, my focus is to build on the early successes that I’ve had and develop my brand presence.
