Learn the Power of Connection Through Touch

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

I started my business as a parent and baby wellness practitioner because it gave me the freedom to work around the needs of my family. Currently my classes are run during school hours, however I have taken my younger children to my classes on occasion. The older children often help me with business ideas. My eldest son helped me create my website. My daughters give me motivation when it comes to marketing my business on social media. Basically, the business is part of my family, and I am hoping that it will grow alongside my children

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

I started with very little money and had to get out of my comfort zone and teach myself how to create a website, put together marketing strategies and learn how to create a social media presence. Fortunately, having a big family meant that I had a lot of support and help from them. My parents, family and friends in South Africa have also been amazing at encouraging me to do my best

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The biggest pro for me is that I can work around my family and be there for my children. I also enjoy supporting mums and their babies – it’s such a joy watching them grow in confidence during the courses and often have mums returning to my courses.

I suppose as I am still new and finding my feet, the con would be that income varies from month to month.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I am working on launching more online content so that I am able to support mums and their little ones worldwide. I love learning so I would love to add breastfeeding support to my business. The dream would be to have my own parent and baby wellness hub which provides a variety of classes. My business has just turned 2 years old – I have lots planned for 2023.
