Ukranian illustrator Snezhana Soosh focuses on the magic of the father-daughter relationship in her sweet and tender drawings.
The exaggerated size of the father compared to the daughter seems to show that size does not always mean power, and that men have another kind of strength within them. She shows the softer side, the paternal side, so sweet and loving to the tiny girl. Something some of us were fortunate to experience as we grew up with our large and loving dads. However, Soosh herself did not have this experience.
“I always wanted to have a tender and loving relationship with my own father, but he didn’t know how to show his love so most of the time was distant and cold,” Soosh told The Huffington Post. “I was observing other fathers with their daughters and so loved each tender moment they had together. I think I drew what I lacked and very much wanted – to feel loved and protected by my big papa.”
Soosh has a son herself, who she homeschools, and who she tries to supply with this loving energy that she portrays in her drawings.
“I hope fathers will see how important they are in their kids’ lives and feel appreciated and inspired to show their love and affection,” she told HuffPost. “I also want to say that real strength shows itself through love and tenderness.”
