The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
My inspiration for my business comes from my love and passion about all things relating to women: their sacred rite of passage of birth and becoming mothers, and for the inspiring and wonderful community I live in here in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales.
Alongside all this, I found so many wonderful women who are on the mothering journey and have strongly created their own small businesses, so I wanted to support them the best I can, so as a collective we could support more mummas and make them feel seen, acknowledged and cared for during pregnancy, birth and postpartum time.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
I guess like everything, it started like a dream.
Like a vision of wanting to do more with a passion that grew during my own sacred mothering time.
It was a moment of reflecting on a sense of purpose, of belonging, so I knew that if I followed my intuition and believed in my power, I was creating a path for myself that was right.
So I contacted people that shared the vision and the response was overwhelmingly positive.. and off it went!
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
Feeling that deep sense of knowing that doing this was bigger than just a dream for myself, but a mission of caring for every woman.
Also, knowing the impact of what supporting small local businesses means, because you support more than just a business. You support someone else’s dreams and the future they wish to create for themselves and their families.
Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I’m not sure I have the perfect answer for this haha. Life has balance for everything.
I guess I acknowledge and respect my limitations, and know that for me, family comes first. So I juggle my times the best I can and honour the opportunities when they have to mix with each other.
Because I am on my mothering journey at the moment, as I have a 3-year-old and I’m 6 months pregnant, life and work are very much intertwined, and that’s the beauty of SoulBirth. It’s about honouring how women are capable of so much and that life is a constant balancing act.
