Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I ensure that my family always comes first. I’m really passionate about my work and therefore it’s not really “work” for me. But in saying that, family time means the phone goes away and work can wait till the next day.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Being willing to abandon a pattern that isn’t meeting key objectives. Despite the fact that you’ve spent quite a lot of time and investment on it, if it’s not right for our customers, then it’s not included in the range.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
You’re always on when it’s your own business! And being a small business, we don’t have many staff, so I’m a jack of all trades haha. The pros are that you’re very much in control of how customers perceive your brand and I love being able to respond to customers and receiving the lovely messages after customers receive their pieces.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
Maybe a matching mum and child range…
We also have a zero-waste ambition. Being a responsible business is important to us. We support the New Zealand economy by employing New Zealanders to make all garments, right here in the Waikato. We also use reusable courier bags, only natural fabrics and 100% of our fabric is utilised. Even our fabric off-cuts are sent to various local charities and local New Zealand businesses to be repurposed into alternative items.
