Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I set certain days aside to spend working on the business whilst my kids are occupied in school and preschool. It’s certainly tricky switching off the ‘business’ side of my brain, but I am very lucky that my kids are a great source of inspiration for new products, blog articles and posts, as well as excellent product testers!
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
Right at the moment we are in the midst of the biggest challenge to my and many other small businesses so far: the global COVID-19 pandemic. Most importantly I am taking the time out to spend with family, keeping positive and being grateful for what we have. I’m also looking for inspiration in everyday life and keeping note of new product ideas as they come to mind.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business? The pros of running your own business are the flexibility to organise your day and week around other important things in your life. It is also such an awesome buzz to see feedback that your customers are loving your products and that they are making a difference in the early learning of the little people in their lives.
Cons, well there really aren’t many! I suppose that you are more affected by the economy and market situation at the time. It’s riding the highs and lows of sales really.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’ve spent a lot of time lately looking at and planning for new resources that I am hoping to release quite soon. It’s a bit of a process, researching and hunting around for the most ethically made and sustainable materials to use.
