Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?
I am still trying to find that perfect balance between work and family! There are so many things to juggle in this modern world. This is definitely my goal for 2021. It is just as important to schedule family time as it is to schedule work and business. Scheduling in family time sounds terrible but it’s something I feel is necessary to put this time aside – by scheduling family time, I mean getting out of the house and having quality family time over all the ‘to-do’s on the list.
The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
I think self-belief, confidence, finances and time have definitely been some of the obstacles I’ve had to overcome. I look at some of the fabulous creators I know who have powered ahead as confident as ever – I’m a little slower and steadier but have got there eventually 🙂
With so many repeat customers sharing their stories of how much they love our products and how much they’ve improved their skin, this has helped me get there. Regarding finances, I wish I had the money to do everything I dream with Aroma Shak at once, but it has been a gradual process and one that brings me so much joy reminiscing back over it. Like so many other families, our time is always so divided.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
A big pro of running your own business is creating and investing your time and energy into something you are so passionate about and love. It is a blessing to be doing what I love and doing it my way and watching my dream grow. Another pro is having some flexibility with your working hours, e.g. to attend events at school, appointments, planning holidays etc.
The main con of running your own business is the long hours. I’m a creator, so putting my business admin financial hat on is not always my favourite thing to do. I think I need to find a financial and marketing whizz and I’ll just create.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
For a very long time, I have dreamed of owning my own store. I have a picture of the shop in my mind and that makes me smile. This is my dream. I would also love to have land and have a section dedicated to growing organic flowers and herbs for my products and herbal teas, a place to hold meditations and be part of a healing centre/sanctuary shared with other healers and dreamers.
