Personalised Haircare that Nurtures the Scalp & Soul

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Starting a business from scratch while juggling motherhood and salon life has been both rewarding and challenging. From managing manufacturing logistics and packaging delays to navigating the financial realities of scaling a brand every step has required resilience and adaptability. The biggest challenge has been learning to trust the process, lean on support and stay true to our “why”, even when growth feels slow. Each hurdle has shaped UKE into something stronger and more intentional.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The greatest joy is the creative freedom seeing an idea become something tangible that people love and benefit from. Every message from a happy customer or salon partner makes the long nights worth it. The flip side is the unpredictability when you run your own business – it’s all on you. There’s no off-switch, but there’s also no greater satisfaction than seeing something you’ve built with heart come to life.

Hopes and dreams: What next?

Our dream is to see UKE Haircare in more salons, homes and boutique spaces across New Zealand and eventually, internationally. We’re expanding our Booster range and exploring sustainable packaging innovations that continue to elevate both the user experience and our environmental responsibility. Long-term, we’d love to create a full self-care line that carries the same calm, grounded essence as our haircare, designed to nurture from scalp to soul.
