After suffering with dermatitis for 6 years, Jane Townsend, the founder of Janeee & Co, was inspired to produce completely natural, plant-based skincare products with the healing and anti-aging properties of aloe vera. Here she shares her story of how she launched her business.
The passion: What inspired you to set up your business?
I can pinpoint the moment that I felt inspired to work with the natural and mineral world.
I had suffered with dermatitis for 6 years. Anyone who has suffered with any skin-related illness will know not only the deep outer struggle of seeking help from various medical professionals, but also the inner battle with embarrassment, hopelessness and exhaustion from exploring all the possible avenues.
This gave me the passion to look into mainstream products and their natural counterparts.
The launch: How did you start out in the beginning?
I began to look into the natural and mineral world. Unsurprisingly, I found many alternatives.
Funnily enough, it was my love of the art form of baking and recognising that the combination of ingredients and how they were combined, make for either a delicious dessert or a stomach ache.
I took the accumulated knowledge of alchemy through baking and applied the same basic principals to the creation of my skin remedies.
The innovation: What was the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?
It’s exciting to say that every day is a breakthrough. A new world of opportunities opens up to me each day.
Whether it is through someone’s own journey of healing, or a new opportunity that leads to the continuing creation of these aloe vera skin remedies.
