The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
One of the biggest challenges of being a sunscreen brand is that it needs to be TGA approved in Australia. This essentially means that sunscreens are regulated and it needs to meet high standards. I did a lot of research and searching for a good manufacturer that not only met my own requirements in a product but also meets the TGA standards!
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
A big pro is the autonomy – I am a bit of an introvert and like being self driven. Being an ecommerce business also fits the criteria of a ‘lifestyle’ business – I can choose when I want to work, day or night. What I put in is what I can expect to get out of it, so the sky’s the limit!
In terms of cons, the overheads and admins – phew! Sometimes it can creep up on you if you don’t regularly attend to it or budget for it.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
I’d like to introduce new products and have my sunscreen be seen in more stores worldwide!
