Sorting it out Sustainably: Decluttering to Support a Motherhood Without Burnout

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

Minimalism and maximising. Bit contradictory but my home and digital life are simplified and free from clutter, so I have less to work around and spend time on and more head space. Then I maximise my time. I multitask efficiently like listening to business podcasts while I play with my baby or sitting down and drafting content on my phone when my bub falls asleep on our morning walk.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Oh my golly gosh, starting a business is a spiritual path. Learning how to put yourself out there brings up all your self-worth poopoo (I don’t know if I’m allowed to swear here!). Getting over the fear of starting the business is the first challenge and then there are a bunch of challenges with everything you do. All of the teaching knowledge and business challenges are figure-out-able but the doubt that comes with every roadblock or opportunity is legit.

For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The pros are that I can do whatever I want. I can create how I want to create and do work that aligns with my values without sacrificing them because it’s part of the job. The biggest con is the uncertainty. Will my launch flop?

Hopes and dreams: What next?

I am launching my course, ‘Cut Clutter & Cultivate Joy: The ultimate decluttering guide to prepare for a motherhood without burnout”. It is designed to be a kind of next level nesting to do a complete edit of the home to make it a place of joy, not burden, before the home welcomes a new baby. I am also looking into setting up the business as a social enterprise and having 51% of my profits go into looking after the earth. I’ll be working on sustainability on the front end of the business by helping new mums opt out of consumerism and live more minimally and I’ll be working on regeneration on the back end, putting profit back into regeneration projects.
