The Bare Essentials for Pregnancy and New Mums

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

*Laughs* You know that pesky little thing they call the 4-month regression? When everything turns to custard and they no longer sleep like logs? Mmm. That’s when I decided to start my own business.

It has been a wild ride trying to navigate motherhood, what my own needs look like, as well as prioritising family and couple time. My husband is incredibly supportive as any time he is not working, he spends with Connor and so that has allowed for time to do Nudie Rudie things.

In saying that, I have a busy busy boy who needs a lot of engaging and interaction, so the main time I get to work is on his big day sleep – which is slowly reducing in time eek!

One thing I have stuck to since the beginning is leaving the weekends for family and life. Yes for my own benefit – but also, I imagine in my head that when there is less on Social Media on weekends, maybe that in a weird way is also letting mamas be with their loved ones in real time too.

The drive: What challenges have you overcome?

Oh gosh – I feel like the whole thing is one continuous challenge. In the best way.

The 3 biggest ones though would be:

  • I am constantly out of my comfort zone (as is anyone who has to create Instagram reels eeek!)
  • Not taking it to heart when you don’t get much engagement over Instagram
  • Feeling like it is never ‘done’. I’m such a lists person and so not being able to ever ‘finish’ is a weird concept.
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?

The pros:

  • Having something for me that isn’t being a mum – so so important
  • Flexibility
  • A creative outlet that also uses my organisational skills

The cons:

  • There is never enough time
  • You never feel like you are ‘done’ – there is always so much to do
Hopes and dreams: What next?

My dreams for Nudie Rudie would be to start some other categories of bundles such as a teething bundle, and also something small to acknowledge the loss that a mama goes through when she loses a pregnancy. I would love to provide something meaningful for when words don’t seem to be enough.

Mums are always at the forefront of my mind – They are superheroes without capes. I am such an empathetic person and if I could make a box for everyone and every situation I would haha!

(“Here’s a gift box that only contains wine because your 4-month-old won’t sleep”

“Here’s a gift box with different kinds of ear muffs because your in-laws gave your children toys that make noises”)

In all seriousness, I have such a passion for mums getting what they need in order to feel loved and supported during the biggest transition that they will ever have to endure, and I will keep doing that!
