The Importance of Self-Care for Busy Parents

What was once good for you, may not be good for you in this very moment, or anymore!

We all have the choice of who we see, who we interact with and who we connect with.

In recent times of uncertainty, having the power to choose who and what you’re surrounded by can seriously support you in maintaining a healthy mindset and aid in your self-care goals, so get comfortable with saying no and acknowledge those gut feelings (more often than not, they’re right!). You’re in the driver’s seat of what sparks your joy.

Checking In With Yourself (don’t ignore the signs)  

We’ve all found ourselves in a scenario that has made us check in with ourselves. It could be acknowledging a feeling, emotion, physical change or even your most recent exchange of words. Why did you respond the way you did? Does it evoke positivity or something we’d rather avoid happening again? Raising your level of consciousness is the key to self-awareness and growth and becoming more aware of what we do and what we say can do wonders for our personal development. When we reach higher levels of consciousness, it allows us to be part of the world, not be at odds with it and with this feeling of inclusivity, we feel less alone and more supported in what we’re trying to achieve.

I cannot emphasise any more the importance of taking care of yourself, and now that I’m a mother, I know that I’m setting an example for my children and making it easier for them to know how to care for themselves as they grow into adulthood. Don’t let society tell you you’re being selfish for putting your needs first. Be the healthiest and happiest version of yourself you can be. Your loved ones will thank you for it.
