The drive: What challenges have you overcome?
My first biggest challenge was my first production as director and owner of the studio. Mrs Hanger is a legend around Tauranga for her amazing productions so I had big shoes to fill! Thankfully, together with my amazing staff and families it was a huge success and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
For better or worse: What are the pros and cons of running your own business?
I’m one of these people whose mind is always racing with ideas and things that need to be done, so the biggest hurdle for me is to make time to just relax and schedule some ‘me’ time. Also of course, there is always the financial worry if things were to not go as planned. The pros for me are being the one who gets to make the big decisions and being able to do things my way. I am very lucky to be able to do what I love.
Hopes and dreams: What next?
We will continue to grow our studio and keep providing Tauranga children with opportunities to learn from world class teachers who excel in their chosen dance style. Our next production is set to be the best one yet and I can’t wait to watch my students grow and develop their own love of dance.
